BLVK, pronounced 'block', utilizes proven Japanese contruction joinery, techniques and skill to create sturdy pieces of usable art that is meant to last. BLVK projects continuously improve by discouraging the use of nails, keeping with the tradition of creating grooves and joints wherever possible. The result is elegant, urban, contemporary, minimalist furnishings that are not merely ornamental, but extremely functional at the same time. Each piece is meticulously hand-crafted after a lengthy design process, ensuring that each project is original, as none are the same. Therein lies the simple beauty of the wood crafts, the fact that you will never find another exactly alike. The use of high quality construction-grade materials ensures that each finished product will last from this generation till the next and beyond. The choice of using these high-end materials is intentional as the BLVK concept breaks out from the mould of mass-produced furnishings that bear no personal meaning when faced with serious interior designing. Keeping it simple is the key for all BLVK ideas. Doing away with extraneous details that serve no purpose preserves a functional elegance, and aids design integrity. If it doesn't serve a purpose, then it shouldn't be there. This is the philosophy of minimalism that is practised: Light, shadow, texture, function. This is BLVK.
